Privacy policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
In short: your data lives on your phone. We don't sell it, show ads or track you. We never link to your bank. The app only listens while it is open and keeps no voice recordings. Your data reaches our servers only if you create an account to use it on more than one phone or share it.
1. Who we are
Pennydo is an app provided by the Pennydo team (“we”). For anything about privacy, write to support@pennydo.co.
2. What stays on your phone
Everything you enter (tasks, appointments, expenses, budgets, bills and scanned documents) is stored on your phone. The app works fully without an account and without the internet.
3. Account and sync (optional)
If you create an account, we keep your email address; your password is stored hashed and we cannot see it. When you turn on sync or join a shared space, your data and files are copied to our cloud database, hosted by Supabase, so they appear on your other phones and for the people you share with. Data travels encrypted, and access rules let only you and the members of spaces you share see it.
4. Shared spaces
When you share a space, its members see its tasks, money and documents, each according to their role. Your personal space and anything you don't share stays yours alone.
5. Smart scanner
When you ask Pennydo to read a page, the picture is sent to our reading service, which uses Google Cloud Vision to turn it into text and sends the text back to your phone. The service keeps neither the picture nor the text. We count pages read per phone, under a random number that does not identify you, for the free monthly allowance. You can hide private parts, such as ID and account numbers, before saving or sharing a page.
6. Voice
Pennydo only listens when you tap the microphone, or when you call Lina or Sami while the app is open in front of you. It never listens in the background. Speech is turned into text by your phone's speech service (Apple or Google), which may process it under its own policy. We keep no voice recordings. In “Meeting to tasks”, recording starts only when you ask, after a notice; speech is turned into text as it goes, no audio file is kept, and only the text stays.
7. Bank messages
Pennydo does not read your messages or connect to your bank. You copy a bank text message and paste it; the app takes the amount, the shop and the day. The message itself and the card number are not saved.
8. Phone permissions
- Camera and photos: to scan receipts and documents and to attach pictures to tasks.
- Microphone and speech recognition: for voice commands, as in section 6.
- Calendar: to show your calendar's appointments next to your tasks, if you turn it on. These stay on your phone.
- Notifications: for reminders, scheduled on your phone itself.
You can turn any permission off in your phone settings at any time.
9. Subscriptions and payment
Payment goes through the App Store or Google Play; we never see your card. We use RevenueCat to know whether your plan is active; it receives the purchase information and an anonymous app ID.
10. What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your data.
- We don't show ads.
- We don't use tracking or behaviour analytics.
- We never link to a bank account.
- We don't ask for your location.
11. Keeping and deleting
- Delete your account: Me › Backup and sync › Delete account. This deletes your account and all your data and files from the cloud for good.
- Erase the phone's data: Me › Start over, or remove the app.
- Ask us: you can also write to us to have your data deleted.
12. Children
The app is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
13. Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data we hold, or for it to be corrected or deleted, by writing to support@pennydo.co.
14. Changes
If we change this policy we update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change matters.
